In a real open-sky museum, Medina was established in homage of the Arab-Andalusia culture, referring many times over to the Mediterranean architecture; everything is built according to ancestral techniques combining the traditional charm with the comfort of the 21st century.
Nowadays, the world witnesses quick changes, requiring performance, efficiency and creativity, more than ever, from people and organizations. The world of research has been concerned with this issue of the explanation of human performance, but especially its modification and improvement. Cognitive scientists are actively involved in the provision of practical and applicable responses to a wide range of problems.
The current unifying and very promising theme in cognitive science is the integration of the three spheres of the human mind, namely Cognition, Emotion and Motivation. Experimental studies, as well as application areas, showed that performance can only be explained, modified or improved through the integration perspective.
As the co-founder of CEM Congress, I am committed since 2007 to build on the exchanges and collaborations between academics and professionals, and to develop international inspiring congresses on this theme, through programs that bring together leading academics and practitioners to exhibit their work, exchange and show that now and whatever its horizon and research field, the cognitive scientist presents applications of its work, changes its environment and improves human performance. Cem07 and Cem09 editions organized in Hammamet-Tunisia have been very successful, showing that altogether researchers, practitioners and professionals can take full advantage of the CEM integration.
The international congress “CEM” includes Cem07 and Cem09 editions with renowned keynote speakers (Irving Biederman, Jennifer Mangels, Klaus Scherer, George Sperling, Jacques Tardif, David Yun Dai ; Jean-Marie Deketele ; Nathalie Bonnardel ; Art Markman, Bernard Rimé, Johnmarshall Reeve) which were organized respectively in 2007 and 2009, in Hammamet-Tunisia. Cem07 and Cem09 drew a portrayal of a new phase of the cognitive revolution which is the CEM integration, and plotted a new and a rich facet of this integration.
These international meetings highlighted also the emergence of a new theoretical paradigm replacing the traditional information processing one. It is the PCD paradigm (percept-concept-decision) which incorporates the emotional and motivational modulation and regulation effects. Thus, we can now say, the Brain and Mind has their CEM formula, and this formula has its PCD paradigm
